7th grade: Titanic: Center Rotations

Among many other learning stations, the favorite, was when students got to experience "just how cold" the water was at the time of the Titanic sinking.  Some of these reactions are priceless, and I feel like the experience humbled a few students who claimed that they would "just swim to the iceberg, climb on and wait to be rescued."

6th: Creating Hues: Pablo Picasso

Pablo Picasso:  Did you know? No artist has ever been as famous during his own lifetime as Pablo Picasso.  His work sold for as high as 1.7 million dollars.  He painted many different ways, but is most known for his abstract work and colors.  Here are a few of our "Picasso's":

7th Grade: Titanic the Unsinkable Ship....Not!

How did the Titanic sink?  It was build with 16 water tight compartments and even had double bottoms!  But it did weigh over 46 tons, so that's definitely one reason!  While learning all these incredible facts about the Titanic, students were assigned to build their own unsinkable boat and test it out using marbles as passengers.  How many marbles could they hold before sinking?  See some of these fabulous designs below:

The winning boat pictured left....It held all the marbles I had...Over 200!! I believe she set a record
 as the most passengers/marbles ever in my 6 years teaching this lesson!  Future builder?  Maybe....;)
